HAMPTON, VA – CNU's sailing team competed in a regatta at Hampton University over the weekend that allowed the Captains to meet teams from the Middle Atlantic InterCollegiate Sailing association as well as the South Atlantic InterCollegiate Sailing Association.
The Captains used the regatta as an opportunity to experiment with different crews and used four different skippers and two crews in various combinations during competition. The regatta featured several strong teams from the South Atlantic and Mid Atlantic regions.
CNU's finish in the regatta was hampered by inadvertent contact between promising CNU skipper
Victoria Miller and another boat in the race. Miller was assessed a penalty and finished the race well behind her expected finish.
Coach
Dan Winters believes that Miller handled the penalty and disappointing finish with class, "This was a real victory for Victoria in that she handled herself with confidence and grace. This experience will serve her well."
The Captains return to action next week at the South Spring Qualifier at William and Mary.
