WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Freshman
Anton Bowman won the men's long jump and sophomore
Kwarteng Asare placed second to highlight CNU's participation in the Tribe Invitational to open the outdoor track and field season Saturday.
Bowman jumped 23-2 1/2 and earned an NCAA provisional qualifier. In the process he moved into sixth place all-time on CNU's list. Asare was second at 22-9.
In the men's pole vault freshman
Joseph Taylor cleared 14-3 1/4 to become No. 5 on the CNU list while freshman
David Fishman had a jump of 13-3 1/2 to rank No. 8.
On the women's side sophomore Laurie Murphy took over fifth all-time at CNU in the 1500 with a time of 4:56.29.
Three athletes joined the all-time top ten at CNU in the hammer. Freshman
Adrianna Carter threw 101-7 for No. 8, freshman
Jessica Chernega became No. 9 with a 100-4 toss and freshman
Jill Raines went 93-7 for No. 10.
The team travels to Washington & Lee next weekend.
