VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The CNU golf team fired a second round 298 total and won the TowneBank Marlins Invitational at the Virginia National Golf Course over the weekend for its third tournament win of the year.
The Captains finished with a two-day total of 312-298--610, which tied Wake Technical C.C., but won on a tie-breaker. They were led by Joe Evans, who placed second individually with a 74-75--149 total.
Ben Culotta was tied for fifth in the event at 82-72--154 and
Chris Olson tied for eighth place at 79-77--156.
Brian Jaeger had a 77-80--157 which tied for 11th place.
Wake Tech and CNU finished with a cumulative score of 610 to trigger the tournament's tie breaker of matching the 5th score from the two teams.
Brian Jaeger's 80 on the second day of competition proved to be 3 strokes better than the 83 of Wake Tech's Taylor Hunt.
The Captains play in the GEICO Invitational at Savannah, Ga., Friday and Saturday.
