NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The stage is set. Top-ranked Messiah College (19-2) will face fourth-ranked Bowdoin College (19-1) in the NCAA Division III Field Hockey National Championship at 1:00 pm. The national title game is being held at Captains Turf Field on the campus of Christopher Newport University.

Messiah advanced to their 14th national title game appearance with a 4-0 blanking of #2 Ursinus College in yesterday's semifinal. The Falcons were led by Julie Barton, who scored the gamewinning goal and assisted on another.

Bowdoin also came away with a big semifinal victory, dropping Skidmore College by a final score of 5-0. Bowdoin was led by Kathleen Smith, who tied an NCAA Championship record with 7 points, factoring into all five goals. The Polar Bears have won two of the last three national championships and are looking to make it three against a seasoned playoff team in Messiah.
