Strothers is CNU's all-time leading scorer with 2,709 points and remains the third leading scorer in Division III history. He played from 1987-91 and was a three-time All-American. He was named national Player of the Year by Basketball Times Magazine following his senior year.

He became just the seventh Division III Player in history to ever be drafted by the NBA when he was chosen in the second round of the 1991 draft by the Golden State Warriors. After graduation she became head coach of the start-up women's basketball program at the nearby Newport News Apprentice School. She posted a 102-42 record in six seasons, winning the National Small College Athletic Association (NSCAA) national championship during the 2000-01 season.

She then moved on to Lenoir-Rhyne College for four years where she led the team to the South Atlantic Conference Tournament championship and a berth in the NCAA Division II tournament.

Barefoot then spent two years as assistant women's basketball coach with the nationally-prominent program at Old Dominion University, helping that team to a Sweet 16 berth in her second year.

She is currently head coach at Elon University.

The induction ceremony will take place during the final day of the USA South basketball tournament on Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Freeman Center.
