NEWPORT NEWS, VA - The Christopher Newport Captains Women's Soccer team won their first game of the 2009 season on Saturday night as they defeated the Marietta Pioneers 1-0.
   
   The Captains and the Pioneers played a scoreless first half which saw both teams have decent opportunities to score. 
   
   The Captains scored their eventual game winner when Katie Jaywork connected off an Emily Chesbro pass in the 74th minute. 
 
  The Captains will return to action next weekend as they will begin USA South Conference play when they travel to Averett on Friday and Ferrum on Sunday.
