Newport News, VA- Family Weekend festivities are set for this weekend, September 18th, 19th, and 20th at Christopher Newport University.
The CNU football squad's home opener headlines the weekend on Saturday against Salisbury at 1 pm at POMOCO Stadium.
A limited number of general admission tickets are still available for the game, and can be purchased by visiting CNUsports.com or by visiting the athletic ticket office in the Freeman Center on campus. You can also call 757-594-7880 for more information or to purchase tickets. Standing room only tickets will be sold once the supply of general admission tickets is gone.
On Friday, the Christopher Newport men's soccer, volleyball and field hockey squads will all host evening games on campus. The volleyball squad takes on Gettysburg at 7 pm in the Freeman Center. CNU field hockey plays Washington & Lee at 6 pm on Captains Field. The Captains men's soccer team takes on Marietta at 7 pm under the lights on the CNU soccer field. Admission to all three events is free.
On Saturday, after the football game, the Christopher Newport women's soccer squad hosts Marietta at 5 p.m. on the CNU soccer field. Admission is also free.
The University is also sponsoring many non-athletic events over the weekend, and Beatles fans yearning for the most authentic reproduction of their music will appreciate the Fab Faux. The group will appear Saturday night at 8 pm at the Ferguson Center for the Arts. The Fab Faux is the most definitive tribute band on the circuit. They present every facet of the genius and talent of the original lads from Liverpool: strong vocals, accurate reproduction of the band's diverse array of vocals, music and writing. If you want to know what it might have been like if the Beatles toured behind their later albums (with a healthy portion of the early guitar-based music), the Fab Faux have landed and are waiting backstage! For tickets contact ticketmaster.com or 1-800-745-3000. The Ferguson Center box office hours are Friday 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Saturday 6:30 p.m. until showtime.
Make plans now to take part in all of the Family Weekend activities on the CNU campus.
