MEBANE, NC – Christopher Newport's golf team finished in third place at the 2009 USA South Conference Tournament Sunday.
The Captains shot a 305 on day three and finished with a three-day score of 916. Methodist won the event with a total of 865 and Greensboro was second with a 898.
All five of the Captains golfers finished in the top 20. Joseph Evans finished in 11th with 226, he shot a 78 on Sunday. Kyle Schaffner tied for 12th with a 76 on day three for a total of 228. Joseph Suarez was 14th with a three-day total of 231, following a 75 on Sunday. Chris Olson placed 15th with a total of 233 after a 76 on Sunday and Matt Wagner tied for 16th with a 238 and finished the tournament with a 79.
