CAMP LEJEUNE, NC – Christopher Newport's golf team finished with a combined total of 883 and finished third in the Scarlet portion of the Marine Corps Intercollegiate this past weekend.
Hampden-Sydney won the event with an 869 while Bridgewater was second with an 879. CNU shot rounds of 283, 305 and 295 for a three-day score of 883.
Overall, CNU finished 19th, when you combine the Gold and Scarlet portions of the tournament.
Joseph Evans was the top finisher of the Scarlet portion of the tournament. He shot 67-73-71 for a three-day score of 211. Chris Olson had rounds of 72-74-72 for a 218 and finished in eighth place. Matt Wagner had a three-day total of 227 (69-80-78), Kyle Schaffner, who had a hole in one, finished with a 233 (79-78-79) and Ian Brennan totaled 240 (75-89-76).
The Captains return to action April 17-19 when they head to Burlington, NC for the USA South Championship.
