JEKYLL ISLAND, GA – Christopher Newport's golf team tied for ninth at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational hosted by Oglethorpe on Sunday.
The Captains shot rounds of 303, 311 and 308 to finish with a 922.
Joseph Evans tied for 32nd with a 229 (78-74-77), Matt Wagner tied for 52nd with a combined total of 232 (77-80-75), Kyle Schaffner tied for 57th with a total of 233 (73-83-77), Joseph Suarez finished in a tie for 67th with a three-day total of 235 (77-79-79) and Chris Olson tied for 84th with a 238 (76-78-84).
Huntingdon won the event with a three-day score of 864. Methodist was second with an 872, Oglethorpe was third with an 873, Illinois Wesleyan placed fourth with an 874, and Rhodes finished fifth with a 908.
The Captains return to action March 27 when they head to Camp Lejeune, NC for the Marine Corps Intercollegiate.
