NEWPORT NEWS, VA- Christopher Newport defeated Cabrini, 1-0, Wednesday night at Captains Field. The game, played in a driving rainstorm, was an opening-round NCAA Tournament game.
Junior Taylor Harrell (Virginia Beach, VA) scored the only goal of the game at the 23:14 mark of the first half. She was assisted by freshman Caitlin Cahill (Virginia Beach).
The Captains, now 16-3 on the season, will advance to the second round Saturday. CNU will play Cortland State (NY) at Salisbury, Maryland, at 1 pm Saturday.
