LA CROSSE, Wis. --
On the second day of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Enuma Ezenwa placed 21st in the heptathlon after capping off the combined event with a strong showing on Friday at UW La Crosse's Roger Herring Stadium.

During the heptathlon, Ezenwa accumulated 4,199 points, which stands as the third-highest total in program history.

On the final day of the competition, Ezenwa's top finish came in the 800 meters after she crossed the line in ninth with a time of 2:30.92. In other events on Friday, she also placed 19th and set a new PR in the javelin with a toss of 21.37 meters. She also notched a leap of 4.67 meters in the long jump, which was 22nd overall.

Along with her efforts on Friday, the Herndon native placed sixth in the 200 meters, eighth in the high jump and 100-hurdles, and 22nd in the shot put during Thursday's heptathlon events. Overall, Ezenwa was the only competitor in the field to place in the top-10 in the 200, 800, 100-hurdles, and high jump during the NCAA Championships.

One of just eight first- or second-year standouts competing in the heptathlon, the sophomore sensation wrapped up an exceptional 2013 campaign with Friday's performance. Earlier in the year, she set a new program record in the heptathlon with a score of 4,421 during the New Captains Classic. She also locked down top-10 all-time efforts at CNU in both the 100- and 400-hurdles as well as the high jump.

During the final day of the NCAA Championships on Saturday, Daulton Teaford and Dominique Torres will represent Christopher Newport at the title meet. Teaford qualified for the finals in the 200-meters after a third-place effort in the prelims on Thursday, while Torres will contend for the title in the triple jump.
