NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Senior
Kim Morrissett was named the USA South Women's Tennis Player of the Week today, after helping lead the Captains to the number two seed in this week's USA South Tournament. The Captains' all-time wins leader went 2-0 at No. 1 singles, and 1-1 at the top doubles spot last week.
Against Greensboro College, Morrissett helped lead CNU to a 9-0 win with wins at the top spot in both singles and doubles. She paired with
Marion Gloor for an 8-0 win over Elizabeth Adair and Meredith Kelly in doubles, and then posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Kelly in singles play.
Then, against the ninth-ranked team in the region from Methodist, she posted a 6-1, 6-1 win over Katherine Meindl in singles play.
CNU picked up the number two seed in this week's USA South Tournament and will take on seventh-seeded N.C. Wesleyan on Friday, April 12 at 2:00 pm.
