NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Christopher Newport women's tennis team won their sixth straight match on Saturday, shutting out the Maryville College Scots (5-3, 4-3), 9-0. CNU improved to 8-4 overall, and remained unbeaten in league play now with a 4-0 record against the USA South.

The toughest match of the day came at No. 3 singles, where Jodi Noland was stretched to a third set. After the CNU junior won the first set, 6-2, it was her opponent, Maggie Dew, that took the second set, 7-6. In the tiebreak, the two battled back and forth but Noland held on for an eventual win, 6-2, 6-7, 10-7.

Senior Kim Morrissett pulled within one victory of tying Christopher Newport's all-time singles win mark. She defeated Stephens (6-1, 6-0) at No. 1 singles for her 57th career victory. Frannie Shivar ('08) holds the career record at CNU with 58.
