NEWPORT NEWS, VA- Christopher Newport University Interim Director of Athletics Jon Waters today announced the hiring of JOYCE ANNE KOUBAROULIS as the school's Academic Support Coordinator.
 
“We are thrilled to have Joyce Anne join our staff,” Waters said. “Her vast experience and knowledge assures us that academic support for our student-athletes will remain among the best in the nation.”
 
Koubaroulis comes to CNU following five years at Virginia Wesleyan College in Virginia Beach, where she was the head coach of the school's field hockey team. She also developed a specialized academic support program and worked extensively with campus tutoring resources.

"I am very impressed with CNU's 'walk the talk' mentality, which has been a catalyst for rapid growth and development in such a very short period of time," said Koubaroulis. "I am looking forward to contributing to the overall vision for student success by serving our student-athletes' academic support needs and seeing to it that all student-athletes strive for the highest in academic achievement."
 
A native of Virginia Beach, Koubaroulis graduated from Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA, in 2006 with a B.S. in Exercise & Sports Science. In 2010, she earned her Sports Leadership & Administration Masters from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.
