Dayn Washburn has received national recognition for his efforts in last Saturday's 51-33 win over North Carolina Wesleyan. Washburn has been selected to the d3football.com National Team of the Week.
Washburn, a senior from Stafford, Virginia, was named the USA South's Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Washburn compiled six total tackles, five of which were solo take downs. He also made three tackles for a loss, two of which were sacks. Washburn forced two fumbles and also recovered one fumble.
In addition, Washburn added two pass breakups and one quarterback hurry in the win, the fourth straight for the Captains.

The win Saturday night came in front of a record 6,141 fans at POMOCO Stadium.
Christopher Newport is now 5-2 overall and 4-0 in the USA South. CNU and Ferrum are tied at 4-0 atop the conference standings.
The Captains travel to Greensboro, North Carolina, this Saturday for a 1 p.m. game vs. Greensboro College (0-7, 0-4).
