Two Women’s Lacrosse Players Receive All-Region Honors

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – CNU's women's lacrosse team had two players named to the Chesapeake Region All-Regional team by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association.  Junior midfielder Kaitlin Quigley was a first team selection while junior attacker Meghan Harkey was named to the second team.

Quigley, of Round Hill, VA finished the 2010 season with 71 goals, breaking the CNU record for goals in a season. She also tallied 27 assists giving her a total of 98 points on the season. Quigley also led the Captains in draw controls with 52.

Quigley's efforts this year have already put her at the top of the career record books in just three years of play. She currently has 158 putting her in second place for goals in a career, 57 assists giving her fourth place in assists and 215 points putting her in second place for career points.

Harkey, of Purcellville, VA finished the season as the team's points leader with 102 from 57 goals and a team-high 45 assists. Harkey's 102 points and 45 assists gives her the record for points in a season and assists in a season while her 57 goals put her in third place for goals in a season.

 Harkey's accomplishments in 2010 are also putting her in the career record book as a junior. She currently has 147 career points which puts her in fourth place, 94 assists placing her in second and 147 career goals placing her in fourth for goals in a career.

The Captains finished 13-7 on the year, coming in first place in the USA South by going 7-0 in conference play. CNU also won the USA South Conference Tournament giving them a bid to the NCAA tournament where they fell to #17 Catholic to end their season.
