2010 CNU Men's Soccer Schedule Released

NEWPORT NEWS, VA- Christopher Newport University Director of Athletics C.J. Woollum and Men's Soccer Coach Steve Shaw today announced the release of the school's 2010 schedule. The Captains are coming off an 18-2-4 season and their second straight trip to the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament.

"There has been a great deal of energy created over the last two years with our Elite 8 appearances,” Shaw said. “Our goal is to maintain that quality and work hard for even greater accomplishments next year"

CNU was ranked #5 in the nation at the end of the 2009 season and will open the 2010 campaign at Captains Field on Wednesday, September 1st, with a 7 pm game against Randolph-Macon.

The Captains will then host the annual Alumni Classic on September 4th and 5th. CNU will also host the Joe Pombriant/CNU Classic on September 17th and 18th.

The 2010 season includes a trip to Texas in early October for games with Trinity University (October 1st) and Southwestern University (October 3rd).

Christopher Newport, Champions of the USA South Athletic Conference last year, went 6-0 in league play and also won the USA South post-season tournament. CNU will open conference action on Saturday, September 25th, at Captains Field against Averett University at 7 pm.
