NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The CNU men's basketball team will travel to Greensboro, N.C., Friday to take on Guilford in the first round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament. Game time is 8:00 p.m.

CNU won the automatic bid of the USA South Athletic Conference with its thrilling, 67-63, victory over top-seeded N.C. Wesleyan Saturday at the Freeman Center. The Captains, now 15-12, will be making their 17th NCAA appearance since the 1985-86 season.

Guilford is 26-2 and won the Old Dominion Athletic Conference championship last weekend. CNU and Guilford have not met since the 1989-90 season when the Captains won 83-80 at Greensboro.

John Carroll and Maryville will also play Friday night, with the two winners meeting Saturday to move on to the Sweet 16.

The 61-team bracket
