NEWPORT NEWS, VA - The CNU Women's soccer team got off to a great start in USA SOUTH play as they defeated Averett 5-0.
The Captains scored 3 goals in the first half with scoring strikes from Lauren Fleming, Kendall Dishaw and Shelby Walters.
In the second half the Captains' Jenn Campbell and Sam Ciarivino tallied the final two scores put the Captains over the top.
With the win the Captains begin their conference play at 1-0 and improve to 2-5-1 overall. Averett falls to 3-4.
The Captains will be back in action on Sunday against Ferrum.
