CNU Track & Field Receives Academic Honors

New Orleans, LA- The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recently announced its annual academic honors, and Christopher Newport University received recognition in two areas.
Kyle Oakes, who is heading into his senior year at CNU, was named to the men’s 2009 Division III Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic team. Oakes, a native of Chesapeake, is a Biology and Chemistry major at Christopher Newport and has had an impressive career with the Captains as a distance runner.
The CNU women’s track & field team was also honored by the USTFCCCA, as the Captains were named to the organization’s All-Academic team.
