NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport’s baseball squad received one of 13 at-large bids into the 54-team NCAA Tournament field.

It’s the second consecutive season the Captains have reached NCAA play and the fifth all-time in program history. All five appearances have come under the direction of Head Coach John Harvell.

CNU (24-11-2) is the No. 4 seed in the Salisbury Regional and will take on Washington & Jefferson (33-12) at 10 am Wednesday, May 13, in a first day contest. This eight-team field includes two other USA South teams, Shenandoah and NC Wesleyan. The Hornets received an at-large bid while the Bishops won the USA South Conference Tournament.

The regional will be played at Arthur Perdue Stadium, home of the Single A Delmarva Shorebirds in Salisbury, MD.

Salisbury (37-6) is the host and top seed. Shenandoah (28-6) is the No. 2 seed with NC Wesleyan (27-19) as the three-seed. York (PA) (27-14) is the six-seed, followed by Johns Hopkins (24-14), the seventh-seed, and Washington & Lee (22-13), the eighth-seed.

Christopher Newport has played four of the seven teams in the field. The Captains are 1-1 against Salisbury, 1-1 against Shenandoah, 1-2 against NC Wesleyan and 2-0 against York.
