Women’s Tennis Drops 7-2 Decision At Peace

RALEIGH, NC – Christopher Newport's women's tennis squad lost 7-2 at Peace Thursday in a match that was suspended March 29 due to high winds.

In singles, Alexandra Kerin defeated Kayla Connor (CNU) 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1; Alejandra Cobian defeated Alannah Suchomel (CNU) 6-0, 6-2; Kassi Avent (CNU) captured CNU's only singles victory, defeating Kristen Starnes 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3; Jilliary Trogdon defeated Dana Burns (CNU) 6-2, 6-1; Lauren Allen defeated Megan Brooks (CNU) 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-7) at No. 5 and Katherine Lamb defeated Mary Ann Feeney (CNU) 6-1, 7-5.

In doubles, Kerin and Cobian defeated Connor and Suchomel 8-2; Starnes and Allen defeated Brooks and Feeney (CNU) 8-4 at No. 2; and Avent and Burns (CNU) defeated Trogdon and Lamb 9-7.

The Pacers improve to 8-7 overall and 5-3 in USA South play. The Captains fall to 7-6 on the year and 5-3 in conference action.

Christopher Newport returns to action Saturday when they host Methodist at 1 pm on the CNU Courts.
