SEWANEE, TN – Christopher Newport’s women’s lacrosse squad won its fourth straight by powering past Birmingham-Southern, 21-5, Sunday afternoon.
The Captains scored 12 of the first 15 goals to lead 12-3 at the break.
Christine Mike led CNU with five goals and one assist. Kaitlin Quigley finished with four goals and one assist, Meghan Harkey added three goals and three assists, Jacqui Williar totaled one goal and three helpers and Chrissy Rogers added two scores.
Liz Klemens added one goal and one assist, Amy Suddarth scored twice, and Maggie Dean and Alyssa Burke both scored once.
Christopher Newport out-shot Birmingham-Southern, 35-13. Gayle Robinson played the first 45 minutes and made five saves. Kristen Duca closed out and made two stops.
The Panthers fall to 4-6 while CNU improves to 13-5. With the win, the Captains tie the school record for most wins in a season set in 2008. Christopher Newport returns to action next Saturday when they host Washington & Lee for the regular season finale. Game time is set for 1 pm.
