Women's Lacrosse Rolls Past Shenandoah, 21-0, Advances To USA South Title Game

BURLINGTON, NC – Christopher Newport’s women’s lacrosse squad advanced to the USA South title game with a 21-0 win over Shenandoah Friday afternoon.

The Captains, the top seed, scored six times in the first ten minutes. The Hornets goalkeeper Danielle Lawson made five saves in the first half, but the Captains took a 13-0 lead at halftime. 

Christopher Newport maintained control during the second half to hold the 19-0 advantage before Shenandoah called a timeout with 13:08 to go in the game. The Captains added two more goals to finish with the 21-0 win. 

Kaitlin Quigley paced the Captains with five goals and an assist while Shayna Sargent added four goals and Chrissy Rogers scored two goals with two assists. 

Gayle Robinson and Kristen Duca split time in goal for the Captains to earn the shutout. Lawson finished with seven saves for Shenandoah. 

The Captains, 10-5, will meet the winner of the Greensboro/Methodist winner in the title game at 1 pm Saturday.
