Quigley Named USA South Player Of The Year, Raveia Named Coach Of The Year, 8 Named All-Conference

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – Christopher Newport women's lacrosse player Kaitlin Quigley was named the USA South's Player of the Year, Head Coach Carolyn Raveia was named Coach of the Year, and eight players in all earned All-Conference accolades.

Quigley, a sophomore from Round Hill, VA, leads CNU with 34 goals and is second on the team with 48 points. She's third on the team with 14 assists. Quigley leads the team with 26 draw controls and has collected 15 ground balls. She was named First Team All-Conference this year for the second straight season.

Raveia, in her second season, won her second straight Coach of the Year award. She has guided the Captains to a 9-5 record in 2009, and a 4-0 mark in USA South play and a regular season championship, the sixth crown in program history.

Also earning First Team honors are Meghan Harkey, Katie Doherty, Amy Suddarth and Gayle Robinson.

Harkey leads the team with 51 points. She's second on the team with 30 goals and 21 assists. She's collected 16 ground balls, six draw controls, and caused five turnovers.

Doherty leads CNU with 26 assists and is third in points with 38 while scoring 12 goals. She leads CNU with 26 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers while collecting 25 draw controls.

Suddarth has helped anchor a defense that has allowed less than 10 goals per game. She has scored one goal and added one assist.

Robinson is 8-5 in the cage with a 10.66 GAA while stopping 111 shots.

Earning Honorable Mention accolades were Liz Klemens, Chrissy Rogers and Rebecca Abood.

Klemens has scored 24 goals and totaled 32 points so far this season. She also has 11 ground balls and 23 draw controls.

Rogers has scored 19 times, assisted on six others, for 25 points. She has scooped up eight ground balls and totaled 11 draw controls.

Abood, along with Suddarth, has been another anchor for the Captains defense. She's scored once this season.

Methodist's Jasmine Stephens was named Rookie of the Year.
