Football Earns All-State Honors

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport University's football program had three players named all-State by the Virginia College Sports Information Directors on Thursday.

Kenneth Hall, a junior OL from King William, VA, was a key member of the Captains offensive line that paved the way for over 200 yards rushing per game and 20 rushing touchdowns. 

Hall is joined on the first team by classmate Adrin Diggs, a linebacker from Smithfield, VA. Diggs led the Captains with 81 tackles on the season including nine tackles for a loss and two sacks. Diggs junior season saw him build on the success that he enjoyed in 2008 as a sophomore starter when he posted a team leading 75 tackles with 8.5 tackles for a loss and one sack.

Senior DE Trevor Wagner, from Williamsburg, VA, was a fixture in the opponent's backfield by leading all CNU defenders with 7.5 sacks, 15.5 tackles for a loss, one forced fumble and one blocked kick. An active defender, Wagner led all CNU defensive lineman in tackles with 63 during the 2009 campaign.
