NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Two Christopher Newport fall sports teams have earned their way deep into their respective sport's NCAA tournaments, with the volleyball team heading to the Elite 8 and the men's soccer team preparing for the Sweet 16.
The volleyball team will take center stage first, travelling to Cleveland, Ohio, to face Wisconsin-Oshkosh (38-2) on Thursday night at 8 p.m. at John Carroll University. The winner takes on the Trinity (Texas)-Juniata victor Friday. The Captains are currently 36-6. That tournament will continue through Saturday.
The fourth-ranked men's soccer team (18-2-2) will meet Stevens Tech (17-3-1) at York (Pa.) at 1:30 Saturday afternoon. The winner will play Sunday against the winner of the York-Williams contest.
