NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Goalie Justin Wolfe stopped two shots in a penalty kick shootout, and helped the CNU men's soccer team to a victory over Lynchburg Sunday night, lifting the Captains into the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA playoffs for the second straight year.

CNU made all four of its PK attempts, by Clif Kipper, Joseph O'Connell, Nao Masuda and Andrew Bonorden, and Wolfe stopped the third and fifth attempts by the Hornets. The final save gave CNU the win.

Lynchburg got on the board in just 44 seconds when Michael Abbonizio scored, but Kipper drilled one into the lower right corner with just 2:11 to play to force overtime. After two ten minute golden goal OTs, the game went to penalty kicks.

Wolfe made three saves during the 110 minutes and CNU out-shot the Hornets, 10-9.

The Captains, now 18-2-2, will learn the site and opponent of the Sweet 16 round Monday morning.
