NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport’s men’s tennis squad received the program’s first ever national ranking Wednesday, 20th, by the ITA.
The Captains, who were ranked 11th in the Atlantic-South Region in the last poll, are ranked 20th in the second top 25 poll of the year by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. It’s the first time in the program’s history that any CNU men’s tennis squad found themselves ranked in the country.
CNU is 2-1 on the year with wins over then 18th-ranked Washington & Lee and New York University. Christopher Newport’s only loss came on the road at Division I Old Dominion University.
The Captains return to action Thursday when they host Division II Chowan University on the CNU Courts.
