NEW ORLEANS, LA – Christopher Newport's Megan Roberts was named to the USTFCCCA's All-Academic squad while the entire women's cross country team was named one of the All-Academic Teams of the Year.
The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its All-Academic Teams this week.
Roberts, a sophomore, is a native of New Market, VA. She is a Spanish major and helped lead the Captains to another USA South Championship. Roberts placed 31st at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional this year with a time of 24:49. She finished third at the USA South Championship and was named to the All-Meet Team. She also took home First Team All-USA South honors.
The entire CNU women's cross country team was also recognized by the USTFCCCA. The squad was one of 141 teams to receive All-Academic Team honors, up from 112 last year.
For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet. The team must also have a minimum 3.10 team cumulative grade point average. The Captains compiled a team GPA of 3.24.
