NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport’s women’s soccer squad rolled to a 6-0 win over Averett in the quarterfinals of the USA South Tournament Tuesday night.
The Captains scored four goals in the first half and added two more in the first 10 minutes of the second half.
Emily Chesbro led CNU with two goals, including the game-winner, and one assist. Kendall Dishaw added one goal and two helpers.
Courtney McKay finished with one goal and one assist while Meghan Arbegast and Megan Conheeney each scored once. Katie Jaywork added one assist.
Christopher Newport out-shot the Cougars, 16-1. Dineen Sampson played the first half and made one stop and Erin Wojtkun played the second half and was not called upon to make a stop.
Averett concludes the year 9-8-1. CNU improves to 13-6-1. The Captains will take on Greensboro, a 1-0 winner at Shenandoah, in a semifinal match beginning at 7:30 pm Friday.
