Schweers Named To D3hoops.coms Team Of The Week
Chelsie Schweers was named to the d3hoops.com Team of the Week.

STERLING, VA – Christopher Newport women’s basketball player Chelsie Schweers took home her second weekly honor by being named to the d3hoops.com Team of the Week.

 

Schweers was also named the USA South Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week for a fourth time on Monday. Schweers, a freshman from Chesapeake, VA, helped Christopher Newport to two wins last week. Schweers, a guard, averaged 32.5 points on 61% (20-33) shooting from the floor to go along with 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals.

 

Against Methodist, she scored a career-high 35 points, becoming the first CNU player to score 35 points in a game since 1992. Her 35 points also set a women’s record for the most points scored in a game at the Freeman. She also dished out four assists, grabbed three rebounds and had one steal in the win. In CNU’s 86-85 win over Greensboro, Schweers scored a game-high 30 points while grabbing four rebounds, dished out three assists and added two steals. It was also the first time a CNU player scored at least 30 points in back-to-back games since 1998. Center
