Baseball To Play Johns Hopkins In Danville, VA
NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport’s baseball squad will play Johns Hopkins in the NCAA Regional in Danville, VA on Wednesday at 3 pm.
The Captains received the fifth seed at the South Regional, which is co-hosted by the USA South and Old Dominion Athletic Conference. CNU enters NCAA play with an overall record of 28-12. Christopher Newport received the USA South’s automatic bid.
The Blue Jays, the region’s number two seed, enter play with a record of 34-5 and received the Centennial Conference’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. Wednesday’s meeting will be the first between these two baseball programs.
The Danville Regional is a six-team regional. Salisbury received the No. 1 seed and will play Randolph-Macon at 11 am. Piedmont is the three-seed and will take on Lynchburg, the fourth seed, at 7 pm.
This is the fourth time CNU has reached post-season play. The Captains reached the NCAA Tournament from 2001-2003. CNU finished third at the College World Series in 2002 and finished second in 2003.
